We, Cattle Ranchers for the Climate, are here to share our history, challenges and commitments. For decades, we have lived and worked in Brazil's countryside, caring for the land, the animals and our people. We pioneered remote regions, opened routes, built communities and fed the country. Today, faced with the challenges of a changing world, we choose to make new commitments: to our ranching culture, to our principles and to the steadfast defense of the nature that sustains us.

This letter is an invitation: get to know our history, our values and the tropical cattle sector we are building—fair, productive, diverse and part of the climate solution.

Our commitments: sustainability, inclusion and transparency

Brazilian cattle ranching is not one single model. It reflects the diversity of our land and our culture, with different realities, knowledge and ways of farming.

Here, we share what we have experienced and what we stand for, so that our story is not told by those who do not know our land, or distorted by those who view it from the outside with prejudice.

We speak for ourselves. With respect, responsibility and honesty.

And we do so by publicly making the commitments that guide our actions:

1. Promote sustainable cattle ranching that conserves natural resources, respects biodiversity and contributes to food and climate security.
2. Strengthen local economies, generating inclusive economic development, jobs, and social and environmental benefits in the territories where we work.
3. Value the diversity of our biomes, using technical solutions adapted to regional conditions and respecting local production strengths.
4. Combat illegal deforestation through active citizenship and support for restoring degraded land with technology and technical assistance.
5. Improve production efficiency with climate responsibility by adopting low-emission practices, using natural resources efficiently and applying technologies that increase productivity with less environmental impact.
6. Ensure reliable traceability as a tool for management, transparency of origin and access to sustainable markets.
7. Build credibility through data and evidence, promoting proactive transparency, fair communication and a reputation that can be verified.
8. Reclaim the right to tell our own story and express our own critical perspective, connecting with urban and international audiences and challenging manipulation, prejudice and distorted information. We know there are challenges, but we are ready to face them and secure a better future for the next generations.

Our challenges

We recognize that much remains to be done. Inadequate infrastructure, legal uncertainty and unfair trade barriers are obstacles we need to overcome. We also face criticism that does not always reflect the realities of our sector. Brazilian tropical cattle ranching is unique, adapted to our biomes and climate conditions. That is precisely why we believe it needs its own metrics, fair recognition of its climate contribution, and policies that respect its diversity and recognize the environmental contribution we make on our farms.

The future we want to build

We want to build a future in which territories are valued as places of prosperity, with sustainable value chains that generate income, social inclusion and environmental balance. We believe in cattle ranching that strengthens regional development, conserves biomes and contributes to food and climate security in Brazil and around the world.

This future will be driven by fair public policies, appropriate incentives and recognition of the solutions already emerging in the countryside. We believe in low-carbon production systems, smart land use, innovation and recognizing the value of environmental assets.

We are committed to a model of tropical cattle ranching that helps build a Brazil that is more sustainable, more competitive and more generous to future generations.

A call to society

We invite society, governments and international markets to join us on this journey. Brazilian tropical cattle ranching is ready to lead the transition to a low-carbon economy, but we cannot do it alone. We count on everyone's support to secure a future in which food production goes hand in hand with environmental protection and social development.
