When territories speak

On September 10 and 11, in Brasília, Vozes da Pecuária ambassadors will meet to present the findings of an extensive listening process carried out across ten territories in eight Brazilian states: Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Pará, Rondônia, São Paulo, Bahia and Tocantins.

The meeting, intended for a more limited audience, marks the completion of an important stage of the project. Over the past few months, cattle ranchers themselves have gone into the field to listen to producers, families, community leaders and other people involved in the sector, seeking to understand the challenges, opportunities and different perspectives on the present and future of Brazilian cattle ranching.

The findings have been organized into Territorial Reports, bringing together the key issues, views and proposals raised in each region. After the Brasília meeting, these documents will be shared widely with society and sent to public administrators, political leaders and opinion leaders, helping connect territorial realities with the spaces where decisions affecting the sector are made.

This is an unprecedented effort, led almost entirely by cattle ranchers and built on the diversity of cattle production in Brazil. Beyond producing assessments, the process seeks to strengthen the sector’s ability to develop proposals, build bridges and participate directly in debates about its future.

Vozes da Pecuária grew out of the Pecuária Tropical pelo Clima movement and is now entering a new stage. The project is expected to give rise to the Vozes da Pecuária Institute, expanding collaboration among producers, territories and different parts of the sector.

The ambition is clear: to bring Brazilian cattle ranching closer together and ensure that ranchers take seats that, for too long, have remained empty in the discussions and decisions about the future of their own sector.
